Having grown up in London, I moved to the West Country where I gained a BA Hons in Fine Art, at Falmouth School of Art. Shortly afterwards I established my first studio in Plymouth, Devon. Over the past thirty years I have exhibited extensively in Devon, Cornwall, Bristol and London, with work showcased at the Royal West of England Academy. My oil paintings and mixed media pieces are held in collections across the world, including New Zealand, America, and Europe.
Now living in Northampton for over ten years, I work from my studio at The Depot in Weedon, Northamptonshire. Landscape remains my primary subject, though I also create mixed media works with leaf metal which I regard as interior landscapes. More recently, I have expanded into sculpture, working alongside a talented group of artists led by Sara Myers who is also based at The Depot.
In 2025 I will be opening my studio again as part of Northampton and Rutland Open Studios. Then, later this year, I will return to Cornwall to exhibit again. I am a long-standing member of the Plymouth Society of Artists.
My aim is always to reveal the vitality and resilience of the world we share, using light, colour and the enduring form. I am drawn to landscapes, seascapes and the stark beauty of industrial scenes. The creative process remains rooted in close observation and a deep respect for the natural and built environment. My work is a direct response to the world around me, an antidote to the blight of urban and environmental neglect.
Through oil paint or mixed media, I celebrate the beauty I see. Magnificent colour, shifting light, and moments of transformation that invite pause and reflection. Sculpture and life drawing form the foundation of my practice, cultivating and sharpening my understanding of form, structure and human presence in space. These disciplines underpin my approach, whether I’m working in oils, mixed media or three dimensions.
